

Charles Wesley Erasmi

Charles Wesley Erasmi passed away on May 1, 2025, in Yorktown, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maie Erasmi; his sister, Vera Smith; and her husband, Jack.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara Erasmi; his son, Charles Andrew Erasmi, and his wife, Anne; and his daughter, Sara Murphy, and her husband, Tim. He was a proud grandfather to Colleen and Declan Murphy, as well as Grace and Rose Erasmi. He is also survived by his nephew, Derek Smith, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Justin and Lindsay.
Charles dedicated four decades of service to the York County School Division, working as a guidance counselor at both York and Grafton High Schools. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory & Henry College and a Masters in Education from The College of William & Mary.
A strong advocate for education and community involvement, Charles led the scholarship committee for the Bargain Box of York County for many years and actively supported student scholarships through the York Retired Teachers Association.
For over 50 years, Charles was a faithful member of Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church. He served in many capacities, including committee chair, usher, lay reader, and member of the United Methodist Men, always willing to help wherever he was needed.
Charles was an avid gardener, and enjoyed any outdoor activities, reading and listening to classical music. Known for his gentle spirit and kind words, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A service celebrating Charles’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church at 2:00 with a reception in the fellowship hall to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church in his honor.
