Charles Alan “Mac” McMullin, 76, of Yorktown, Virginia passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, with his beloved wife and daughter by his side.
Born on June 18, 1948, in Opa Locka, Florida, Charles dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his career. He proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years, completing tours in Vietnam, Germany, and South Korea. Following his military service, he worked for over two decades at Virginia International Terminals, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Charles found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and crabbing in the James River, spending peaceful hours by the water. A lifelong learner and avid reader, he also enjoyed listening to music on the porch and giving back to his community through volunteer work at the American Legion. Those who knew him will remember his kindness and the warmth of his ever-present smile whenever family came to visit.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Song; his daughter, Regina Huskey and son-in-law, Keith; and three cherished granddaughters, Sienna, Leah, and Lauren. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Young-Sook Kim; his sister, Judy McMullin Owens and husband, Jimmy of Moultrie; their children, Gregg Hersey of Moultrie, Salena Hersey Register of Valdosta, Georgia, and Zayden Owens of Moultrie; as well as his brother, Stephen Griffin of Moultrie and his daughter, Christina Griffin of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester A. McMullin; mother, Ruby Mae McMullin Griffin; stepfather, Vade L. Griffin; and father-in-law, Yong-Won Choi.
A Funeral Mass will be held on April 1, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima in Hampton, Virginia (2114 Bay Ave) from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk (5310 Milners Rd.) with a burial ceremony from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
Charles’ legacy of kindness and dedication will live on through those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him.
