

Carl Olson
Carl Olson passed away on May 15, 2025 , just two days before his 35th birthday.
He was born May 17, 1990, to Wayne and Jean (Blank) Olson in Spooner, WI. He graduated a year early from Poquoson High School in 2007. He was married to Katie Everingham on March 5, 2021, in Poquoson, VA.
Carl was a loving husband, brother, son, friend and teacher. He was a classically trained pianist specializing in old timey music. Carl played weekly at nursing homes, church on Sundays as the pianist, taught students who went on to win national awards and composed his own music.
He played regularly at Gershwin’s, Cavalier Hotel, and Live on Atlantic every summer. He was known for his virtuoso abilities, bright smile, gentle and compassionate demeanor, warm hugs, sense of adventure, high intelligence, dark humor, quick wit, and silliness.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother Jean Olson. He is survived by the love of his life, Katie (Everingham) Olson; his father, Wayne Olson; siblings Lee Olson, Lydia (Scott) George, Eric Olson, and Rachel Olson; nieces Hannah and Samantha George and nephews Dayton and Dawson Olson.
Visitation will be held at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, VA, on Friday, May 23 from 5 –7 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Emmaus Baptist Church in Poquoson, VA, on Saturday May 24 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of your choice in Carl’s memory.
