Bruce Edward Banwart

Newport News, VA. – Bruce Edward Banwart, 73, passed away on Thursday May 9, 2024.
Bruce was a native of Michigan and a peninsula resident since 1987. He graduated from Lee M. Thurston High School, Redford, MI in 1969. He worked at Priority Chevrolet as the Parts Manager and was known as “the Legend”. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, hunting and boating.
He is survived by a daughter Jeannine Whitehead of Leander, TX and a son, Jason Banwart and his wife Dana of Yorktown, VA. 4 grandchildren, Courtney Whitehead, Christopher Whitehead, Ryan Banwart and Andrew Banwart, sister Linda Rossi and her husband Richard of Charlevoix, Michigan and brother Lewis Banwart and his wife Diane of Pinckney, Michigan. He had several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his partner Vera Hall and her children Daniel Smith and Tyler Smith (Leanna) of Newport News, VA. granddaughter Tillie Jo Smith and his special companion Grady. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Laura Marie Engel and Reuben Lewis Banwart and a brother, Barry Banwart.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Marlbank Farms Clubhouse, 115 Old Landing Road, Yorktown.
