Betty Burcher Fox


Seaford, Va. – Betty Burcher Fox, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday September 21, 2026 following a long illness.
A native and lifelong resident of York County, Betty made her home in Seaford and was a 1951 graduate of Poquoson High School. She was a long-time member of the York Lady Lions Club, where she devoted many years to serving her community. Betty was also a dedicated supporter of the York County Little League and a faithful member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Above all, Betty was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great- grandmother. Her life revolved around the family she loved so dearly. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which brought her immense joy and held a special place in her heart. She cherished every moment spent with them and leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles T. (Chick) Fox; her parents, Estelle and Charles Ray Burcher; her sister, Kaye Robertson and her niece, Tamara Pack.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Cheryl Moore, (Jack); two sons, Tommy Fox, (Sheree) and Jerry Fox, (Julie), grandchildren, Jason Fox, Kristina Fox Wall, Boyd Fox, Jamie Fox Desai, Zachary, Mitchell and Josh Moore; great- grandchildren, Hannah Thompson, Noah and Emma Fox, Camden and Parker Wall and Layla, Olivia and William Moore; sisters, Nancy Graves and Patricia Thurlow and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their special thanks and heartfelt gratitude to Betty’s loving caregivers, Kim Dabney and her team, for the unending love, care compassion and professionalism. Their dedication and kindness brought comfort to Betty and her family during her final years and will always be deeply appreciated.
A service celebrating Betty’s life will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Zion United Methodist Church (2109 Seaford Road, Seaford, VA). The family will be available beginning at 10:00 am to receive friends prior to the service. Everyone is invited to attend a reception immediately following the service in the church social hall.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made in Betty’s name in the form of contributions to Zion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 240, Seaford, VA 23696.
