

Barry W. Green, Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry W. Green Sr, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, who left us on April 13, 2025 at the age of 80.Barry was a man who lived his life with unwavering devotion to his family, a deep appreciation for good food, and a strong and steadfast faith.
Barry was born on August 13, 1944, to the late Earnest E. and Ruth C. Green of Dare, Va. Barry is survived by his loyal brother Earnest E. Green Jr. and loving children Michelle Bozza (Tony), Karen Harrell (Jeff), Barry W. Green Jr. (Rose). He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, whom he adored with all of his heart. His family was his greatest joy, and he found immense pride in seeing them thrive.
Beyond his role as a family man, Barry had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid coin collector, with a special interest in state quarters. He also loved woodworking and fishing in his younger years. He thoroughly enjoyed fellowship while sharing meals with family and friends. Barry’s ability to make others laugh with his humorous wit will forever be cherished.
Barry’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. A man of deep conviction, he found strength and peace in his beliefs, which guided him through both the joyful and challenging moments of life. His faith in God was evident in the kindness he showed others, his unwavering integrity, and his grateful spirit.
Barry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His love for his family, his appreciation for life’s blessings, and his strong faith will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of sharing his journey.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Riverside Hospice nurses, as well as the numerous private caregivers, especially Sarah Shenski, for their exceptional care throughout Barry’s acute illness.
A service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at Providence United Methodist Church, 113 Old Dare Rd, Yorktown, VA on Friday, April 18th at 11 a.m., with a visitation at 10 a.m. A brief graveside prayer will take place immediately after and reception to follow.
Barry’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in our hearts, but his love and faith will remain with us forever. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be deeply missed.
