August Albert Henry Gehrke

August Albert Henry Gehrke, 80, of Yorktown, Virginia, peacefully passed at home surrounded by his family on February 16, 2023. He was born on May 8, 1942 in Brook Park, Minnesota to the late August and Dorothy Lucille (Lewellin) Gehrke.
He graduated from Wrenshall High School in Wrenshall, Minnesota in 1960. After graduating he served in the U.S. Navy. His career was spent working for VA Chemicals, Columbia LNG, Baltimore Gas and Electric for 37 years retiring from BP Amoco Corporation on May 1, 2001.
August is survived by his wife of 57 years, Paulette E. Gehrke; his two daughters Tracy R. Pastella (Thomas) of Hayes, VA; and Rhonda G. Williams (Griffin) of Gainesville, FL; his grandchildren Casey T. Pastella, Amelia B. Williams, and Ashleigh E. Williams; his two sisters Lois (Paul) Stephan; Debbie (AL) Bergstrom; his two brothers Charles (Shelia) Gehrke; David Gehrke; his brother-in-law Mike Stoffel.
He was preceded by sisters Verdell Brown, Shirley Stoffel, Karen Gehrke; two brothers Raymond and Douglas Gehrke.
He was a beloved family man, well respected by many throughout his career, avid golfer and a Minnesota Vikings fan.
The funeral service will be held at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia on February 28, 2023 at 11:00 am.
