Stanley I. Molin

Stanley I. Molin “Stan” of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Benjamin and Mollie Molin, Stanley went on to attend and graduate from the University of Denver. It was in Denver where he met Linda, the love of his life. Their meeting marked the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would span more than six decades. Stanley and Linda shared 62 years of marriage, building a life centered around family, love, and cherished memories.

Stanley was the devoted father of Jeffrey (Loretta), Peter (Sharon), and Michael (Angela), and a proud grandfather who treasured his family deeply. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose family was the center of his life.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Stanley built a successful career in the novelty hat business. He was a co-owner of Benay-Albee Novelty Company, a family business founded by his father, Benjamin Molin, that designed and created hats for Disney for many years. Stanley and his twin brother, Lawrence “Larry” Molin, even had the unique distinction of wearing early hat designs as children.

In 1986, Stanley and his family relocated from New York to the Virginia Peninsula, where he continued his career in the hat business, as the factory relocated to Newport News. He later managed the successor company, Benay Hat, alongside his twin brother, Larry, until their retirement. His work was a source of great pride, and his entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and dedication remained an important part of his life.

Stan had a lifelong love of sports, especially experiencing them live and in person. During his years in New York, Stan and his boys were regulars at New York Islanders hockey games and New York Mets baseball games, creating countless memories together. But some of his happiest sporting moments were much simpler. A perfect Sunday for Stan was spent on the couch watching NFL games, with Linda serving snacks and his three boys at his side. These family traditions and shared moments were among the things he treasured most.

Stanley shared a special lifelong bond with his twin brother, Lawrence (Paulette) Molin. He is also survived by his siblings Ronald (Phyllis) Molin, Jennifer Molin, Bart (Judi) Molin, and Michelle Molin. Stanley was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Molin and John Molin.

Stanley was a devoted grandfather to Brendan Molin (Kaydence), Ryan Molin, Ethan Molin, Kyle Molin, Piera Molin, and Makayla Molin. His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy, and he treasured the time he spent with each of them.

Stanley will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, sense of humor, and the many relationships he built throughout his life. From his Brooklyn roots to his years in Colorado and the life he created in Virginia, Stanley’s journey was marked by family, friendship, hard work, and love.
Most of all, Stanley will be remembered for the love he shared with Linda, his wife and the love of his life, and for the family they built together. His family will forever cherish the stories, traditions, laughter, and memories they shared with him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Brittney Millen for her compassionate and dedicated care of Stan during his final days. Her kindness, devotion, and support brought comfort to Stan and to his family during a very difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at Amory Funeral Home in Grafton, Virginia, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rabbi David Katz. Interment will immediately follow at The Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula, Hampton, Virginia.

A meal of consolation will follow at approximately 2:00 p.m. at Nest Kitchen and Taphouse, 1003 Brick Kiln Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia.

Donations in Stan’s memory should be made to the Yorktown Hospice House, P.O. Box 704, Yorktown, Va. 23692. https://www.yorktownhospicehouse.org/donate
