Nicholas Andrew Wildeson

In Loving Memory
Nicholas Andrew Wildeson
January 12th, 1983 – May 20th, 2026
Nicholas Andrew Wildeson, beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on May 15th, 2026,
at the age of 43 in Newport News, Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ray Wildeson and sister, Kelly Wildeson. Nick is survived by his mother-Virginia Wildeson, brother-Alex Wildeson, and two beautiful nieces-Kinsley and Briar Wildeson, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Born January 12th, 1983, at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News to Ray and Virginia Wildeson, he grew up in Yorktown, Virginia where he developed a love for academics, nature, and athletics.
Nick’s intelligence was evident early on as he was asked by a grade school teacher to test into an “Extend Program” in grade school where he excelled. This was just a springboard as he continued this excellence throughout many AP courses at York High School until he graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Studies at Radford University.
His love for nature can be traced back to unforgettable times spent visiting relatives in Pennsylvania. He found joy in hiking trails, fishing streams, and skiing during the winter months. Most of these moments were based in an area where most of his extended family still resides. Affectionally known as “The Farm,” Punxatawney, PA deepened his love for the wilderness and formed lasting memories with family that will continue to live on in the hearts of his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His athletic feats were on display as a young child as well. His ability to walk and kick a ball “across the room” before the age of one was surely a sign of things to come. The excellence he displayed on the sports fields led to multiple all-star nominations in youth baseball as well as being an anchor on the defense of a travel soccer team that competed in multiple state cup finals. His athletic feats were also seen as true inspiration for his younger brother who saw him as Superman on and off the field.
However, Nick’s most endearing quality came from the love, warmth, and compassion he had for family and loved ones. Quick to give you the shirt off his back, he always displayed selflessness, even in the most trying of times. His decision to remain quiet about a disease he had been battling for his final two years should be seen as a message of solace to those he loved. He did not want to alarm anyone of his condition because he knew his journey was just beginning at the start of his afterlife. Nick’s growing interest in the cosmos and anything extra-terrestrial only confirms this belief that he is truly onto bigger and better things.
