Cynthia Major

Cynthia Major, 71, passed away on February 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS. Cindy, as she was known by most, was born on October 22, 1954, in Bourne, MA to the late Veda Goodman and William Edward Hall. Cindy graduated from Bethel High School in Hampton, VA in 1972. She went on to work as a receptionist at Pariser Dermatology. After retiring, she loved working as a cafeteria monitor at Grafton Bethel Elementary School in Yorktown where her grandchildren attended. She took great pride in being a grandmother and would spend every minute she could delighting Anabelle and Deacon with her fun, playful imagination. She never turned down an opportunity to spend time with them and being their “Grandma” was the greatest joy of her life.
Faith was the cornerstone of Cindy’s life. She was an active member of Coastal Community Church where she participated in small group Bible studies and volunteered in the children’s church. She was very excited to visit her church family every Sunday.
Cindy took joy in baking for others. Everyone looked forward to her delicious snickerdoodles and decorated sugar cookies around the holidays. Along with her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her sister Carol Sue Donato. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son Brandon (Stacey) of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Anabelle and Deacon; sisters Ann Philbeck (CP) of Providence Forge, VA and Cathie Ramsey of Williamsburg, VA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Cindy’s loved ones would like to give special thanks to Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital and the ALS Association for their tireless dedication and compassionate care. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11th at 5:00PM at Coastal Community Church, 101 Village Avenue, Yorktown, VA 23693.
