Joseph Francis Henton passed away peacefully on Saturday January 10, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
He left behind a life defined by devotion, resilience, and quiet strength. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend whose steady presence and caring nature touched the lives of many.
Joe lived his life guided by strong values—he was a master shipbuilder at NNS, a passionate friend and had unwavering dedication to family. He took great pride in being a husband and father, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did. Through his actions and words, he led by example showing patience, dependability and integrity.
He found joy in life’s simple moments, especially time spent coaching his son and others, attending every one of his kids sporting events; and of course, watching Eagles’ Games. Joe was known for his generous heart, calm demeanor and willingness to always be there for others. His strength, kindness, and quiet wisdom will be deeply missed.
Joseph is preceded into death by his father Jim Henton, a sister Margie Quinley (Dan) and Father-in-law John Miller.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Sue Henton his children, Krystiann and Jake Henton and his mother Margaret Egan Henton. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Jones (Jeff) Sharon Simpson (Allen) his brothers, Michael Henton (Lori) and Kevin Henton; sisters in law Jane DeVere (Jim), Annemarie Smith and mother in law Jane Miller, He had many beloved nieces and nephews including Ryan Henton, Jeffrey Jones (Kayla), Valerie Moore (Brentley), Megan Jones, Joey Henton, Justin Smith, Emily DeVere, Jesica Hunter, Nicole Smith and Casie Henton.
A viewing will be held at Amory Funeral Home on Friday January,16th from 5-8 pm. A funeral service will be held At Saint Kateri Takakwitha Catholic Church on Saturday January, 17th at 12 pm followed by a celebration of life at the Anchor Social Hall in Poquoson from 2-8 pm. Burial will be on Monday, January 19 at 11 AM at Peninsula Memorial Park.
