Arloha Joyce Moen


Arloha Joyce Moen, 93, of Yorktown, Virginia passed peacefully at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, VA on December 25, 2025.
She was born September 10, 1932, in St. Louis, MO. Arloha was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was predeceased by her husband Lt. Col Arthur D. Moen, Ret. and is survived by her four children and their spouses, Armin Glore (Diane Danks), Colette Cogliandro (Sanny Cogliandro), Jaye Moen (Marina Moen), Ty Moen (Nancy Moen), eight grandchildren, Aaron Glore, Andrew Glore, Alan Glore, John l Cogliandro, Anna Cogliandro, Katy Moen, Adrian Moen, Daren Moen, four great grandchildren Armond Cogliandro, Natalia Cogliandro, Avery Glore, and Arthur Glore.
Arloha was of the Lutheran faith. She loved animals, had many cats and dogs as pets throughout her lifetime and enthusiastically supported animal welfare groups. She enjoyed feeding the birds, raccoons, and ducks in her backyard, frequently nursing wounded ducklings back to health. She was an efficient, organized and a proficient typist. As a military wife she was the coordinator extraordinaire, managing multiple moves many times on her own, with a growing family to duty stations in the states, as well as France. It is there she developed a passion for collecting French antiques and had a great talent of finding bargains. One of her frequent hang outs in later years was the Bargain Box. She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, crafting, being visited by and going out to eat with her children and friends. Arloha possessed the admirable quality of being able to face the challenges of life with optimism, humor, courage, and tenacity. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be led on Monday, January 26, 2026 at NOON in Amory Funeral Home Chapel, Grafton, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. There will be a reception at 1882 White Marsh Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434 after the graveside at Albert Horton
