Gary David Cline

Gary David Cline, 58, of Yorktown Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 6, 1967, he was the beloved eldest son of Garry Cline and Devany Gomez. He was survived by girlfriend Natalie Hill, brothers Danny Cline (Melissa Cline), Rico Gomez (Amber Jones), and sister Jennifer Wyatt (Herbie Wyatt). David was the proud uncle to Matt and Zach Owens, Hannah Kessner, Victoria Walker, Michael Stratton, Tyler Cline, Asher Gomez, and was the great uncle to many.
David was always keen to lend a hand and be there for someone in need. As the eldest brother, uncle, and great uncle to many; David was quick to love, always open to listen, and led a life deeply dedicated to his family. Though born in San Diego, California, as a child he moved to Norfolk Virginia with Garry and Devany. He remained a resident of the Hampton Roads area his entire life.
Early in life David chose a career on the water as a Scallop Fisherman for over a decade. Through many years of hard work, persistence, and strong resolve he rose to the position of First Mate, a position that requires much responsibility and proficiency; only acquired by a select few. After many successful years in the scallop industry David opted to begin a career in the construction industry. His first decade in the construction industry was spent assisting his brother Danny Cline to develop Dreamco Vinyl Exteriors into the reputable and prosperous company it became. After many years working at Dreamco, David went on to work for Hall Construction and then Summit Environmental Solutions acquiring many friends and leaving a lasting impression on all those he encountered.
Additionally to being incredibly devoted to his family; caring for his mother in her final year and then caring for his youngest brother Rico after her death; he was consistently hardworking, and a guiding light in the darkness to many. David embodied the selfless values and characteristics of a devout Christian: ministering, comforting, and asking people to get saved up until his last breath. David always gave of himself, never expecting anything in return, simply because it was the loving and compassionate thing to do. He left behind a legacy of love, self sacrifice, and hard work.
The celebration of life ceremony will be held at Amory Funeral Home on December 13, 2025 from 5:00-6:00 pm. The address for Amory Funeral Home is 410, Grafton Drive, Yorktown Virginia, 23692. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who wish to contribute donate to CHKD as it is an affiliate of Norfolk Sentara General, and they bestowed the best of care to David in his final days.
