Betty (Brock) Hendricks Strasser


BERLIN, Pa. – Betty (Brock) Hendricks Strasser, 87, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Born in Hampton, VA, she remained a lifelong resident until her move to Berlin, PA, in 2023.
Betty began showing prodigious musical talent at an early age. She became proficient in piano as well as the organ and accordion. She wrote her first piece of music at age seven and was teaching piano lessons at age fourteen. She maintained a very full schedule of students which she taught in their homes. In 70+ years of teaching music, she touched the lives of many people and helped expose the talents of hundreds of students both young and old.
Over the course of her life, Betty served as Music Director at several local churches as well as providing musical services to local funeral homes as well as churches and chapels for weddings. Betty had been a fixture of leadership and grace as Music Director at Phoebus United Methodist Church for 50+ years. She considered her service as her means to honor her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Betty’s home was always filled with the sounds of music, cherished collectibles each with their own story, and the warmth of her exceptional Southern hospitality, reflecting her deep love for family and the simple, beautiful things in life.
Betty was proceeded in passing by her late husband, Fenton Rudolph Hendricks and her beloved son, Frank Wilson Hendricks. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Allen Eads Strasser, her son, Fenton Rudolph (Rudy) Hendricks II (wife Betty), her daughters, Debra Jones (husband Perry), Barbara Ramsey (husband Danny); eight grandchildren, Jennifer Hendricks, Amy Davis, Tanya Etheridge (husband Jason); Ashley Shaw (husband Chris), Heather Hendricks, Krista Smith, Winter Holbrook (husband Sam), Jamie Baker; eight great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ashlynn, Makayla, Alexis, Zoe, Sutton, Killian, Emory; and one great, great grandchild, Jemari. She is also lovingly survived by her extended family, Allen R. and Jen Strasser, Steven Strasser and Victoria Garrity, Thomas Strasser and Laura Herndon, Christopher Strasser and Dawn Edmiston-Strasser, Amanda Strasser, Michael Scott and Samantha Strasser, Alex Strasser and Ben Strasser.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Phoebus United Methodist Church, Phoebus, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity dear to you, celebrating Betty’s legacy of love and generosity.
