Helen Green


Ms. Helen Green, born 10/1/1939, departed this life on 10/14/2024. She was an English Teacher, teaching 12th-grade English and English to students from other countries for 50 years. Helen graduated from Annie Chestnut High School, setting her on a course to Washington, DC, where she met and fell in love with Ulysses Green. They were married. Helen’s linguistic skills were not just a part of her profession, they were a testament to her dedication and passion. Her profound love for languages, a passion that inspired all who knew her, was the driving force behind her mastery of English and her ability to speak seven different languages, with French being her favorite. Helen moved to California in 1970, where she attended San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English and majoring in foreign languages. With Helen’s determination, she wanted and saw the need for higher education, earning her a master’s degree in education from San Diego State University.
She married the late Ulysses Green, and they had one daughter, the late Rachael Green. Helen was also blessed to have another daughter, Mrs. Cassandra McMillan, a son-in-law, Stevie McMillan, Sr, and two grandsons, Stevie McMillan, Jr, and Tyler McMillan. Helen’s family legacy was rich and vibrant, with five siblings, Donnie Pone(Deceased), and a sister-in-law, Helen Pone, Bessie McLean and Earnest McLean, Annie Mae Anderson, William McMillan, Doris McLean, and Glenda Worley and Obie Worley—a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her impact on her loved ones was profound, and her absence leaves a void that will always be felt. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, love for the French Language, and unwavering support for her family and friends.
