Helen Walters

Yorktown, Virginia — Helen Walters, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024.
Born on December 31, 1933 in Kannapolis, North Carolina to Paul and Hessie Moose, she was a beloved daughter, mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend.
Helen was known for her kindness and warm nature. She was an avid bargain hunter and enjoyed giving her finds new life by refinishing and repurposing them. She was always willing to fix anyone a plate. Her famous applesauce cake will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of enjoying it.
She is survived by her grandchildren Angela (Michael) Molin, Pamela (Micah) Matheny, and Ashley Walters, great-grandchildren Ethan Molin, Makayla Molin, Corban Matheny, and Cora Matheny, sister-in-law, Katie Moose, many nieces and nephews in North Carolina, friend, Leroy Roberts and many special members of his family.,
She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Hessie Moose, husband Oscar Walters, son Danny Walters, great-grandson Wesley Walters, sister Dorothy Starnes (Don), brothers Jack Moose, George Moose, and Graydon (Sue) Moose.
A service will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 2pm at Amory’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The York County Volunteer Association (The Bargain Box), 222 Dare Road, Yorktown, VA 23692 in her memory.
