Doug was born in Louisa County to the late Lloyd P. Butler, Sr. and Martha Nichols Butler. He was a graduate of Warwick High School. Married to Judy Morgan for 61 years, he was a devoted husband and father. God and his family were always the most important to Doug, as he spent all his time supporting those he loved. Doug was very active in the church. Over the years he served as a Deacon and a youth leader. He always had a heart for working with young people, leading the college and careers Sunday school class at Deer Park Baptist Church. Doug also had many hobbies and talents. He grew up playing baseball, singing in church, and loved to race cars. In later years, he loved to play golf, wood carving, and writing poetry.
Doug started his career in the Timekeepers office at the Newport News Shipyard which launched him down his career path with technology. He worked for Data Pathing, Inc, which evolved into NCR corporation, which later became AT&T, as an award-winning salesman. These opportunities allowed him to travel for 22 years. His experience inspired him to start his own company 28 years ago focusing on Time and Attendance systems. He named the company Focus Professional Services, Inc. as a reminder that focusing on the client was the most important part of the business. Doug lived what he believed in and built a successful company that is still thriving today.
