William Thomas Melton
William (Bill) Thomas Melton left his earthly home and went to his heavenly home on Good Friday, March 29.
He was born in Fort Worth, Texas to parents, Maxey and Falba Melton. He graduated from TCU, Southwestern Seminary and Texas A & M.
He was in the Army Corps of Engineers for 17 years, and continued to work with Civil Service until he retired while at Fort Monroe. After retiring, he began work in Christian ministry, first at Ivy Memorial as Minister of Education and then as Pastor of Buckroe Baptist. Ministering was not just his job, but his call from God. This calling was carried out every day in his life as he served his Lord. He is survived by his wife, Lucretia Melton, daughters Cassie Morelos, Terri Spencer, Sarah Boulware, Elizabeth Bartley and their spouses. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses, eight great-grandchildren, his sister, Mary Giles, many nieces and nephews, and many friends who are as close as family. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 6 at Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, 2000 Coliseum Dr, Hampton, VA. Visitation will be from 11 to 12, and the service will be at 12 followed by a reception. All are invited and welcome.
