Benjamin Charles Stewart
Benjamin Charles Stewart of Yorktown, Virginia, peacefully passed away on November 30th after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ben was born on December 28, 1951, in Gadsden, Alabama and moved to Greeneville, Tennessee at the age of thirteen. He attended Greeneville Junior High and Greeneville High Schools where he excelled in sports. Many knew him for his outstanding athletic abilities, track and field, football quarterback for Greeneville High School, baseball, and basketball. He held a passion for the outdoors as he was an avid angler and hunter.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer D. Stewart, and Martha Woods Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Temple Downs of Yorktown, Virgina, two daughters, Natosha (Eddie) Scott of Paxville, SC, Letitia Ebmeyer of Greeneville, TN, and one son, BJ (Shasta) Stewart, also of Greeneville, two brothers, Elmer Stewart of Alabama, and Brian (Elaine) Stewart of Greeneville, TN. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three nieces, and two nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Riverside Hospital, Newport News, Virginia. Mr. Stewart requested no formal funeral services. Any donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
