Ricky Edward Smith

Ricky Edward Smith, 68, passed away on October 29, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Ricky was an avid DeMolay supporter, volunteer and organizer from his membership as a teenager in Japan, working with the DeMolay youth here on the peninsula, Virginia DeMolay and then as an Active member of the DeMolay International Supreme Council. Ricky was a member of St. Tammany Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A.M. in Hampton and a 32 deg. KCCH of Newport News Scottish Rite. He went through the NASA Apprenticeship Program and retired after a 40+ year career. Ricky loved working behind the scenes and never wanted recognition for the work he did. He was kind and had a great sense of humor. He loved to eat at unique places and especially loved ice cream. Ricky is survived by his Aunt Irene of Florida, several cousins and his DeMolay Family. A celebration of Life will be held on December 2, 2023 at the Newport News Scottish Rite at 1:00 P.M. Masonic Rites will be performed. In lieu of flowers it is recommended that memorial donations be made to the Virginia DeMolay Foundation, c/o 1528 Tuckahoe Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
