Mary June Green
Mary June Green went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
After seven years of separation, she is now reunited with her husband, Wallace, and their love continues.
June was born in North Carolina but moved to Virginia around the age of five. She graduated from York High School and remained a resident of Dare in York County for the rest of her life.
June met her future husband at the age of 14. She married Wallace Coleman Green on July 26, 1964. June and Wallace would remain married for the next 52 years until his death in 2016. They loved traveling and took a series of road trips and cruises that allowed them to see the world and spend precious time together. When they weren’t exploring distant locations, they loved the beach and had a special love for North Carolina’s Outer Banks. They would fish, soak up the sun, and hold hands while looking for seashells on the beach.
June and Wallace had two children. Wallace Coleman Green, Jr. was born in 1968, and Rebecca Ellen Green was born in 1970. June was a natural mother and devoted herself to raising her beloved children. She volunteered as homeroom mother and served the community in a variety of capacities, including serving as “Team Mom” for the cheerleaders of the Grafton/Tabb youth football league. When her children were grown, June thought that part of her life was over, but the Lord had other plans.
June and Wallace would become parents a second time in 2004 when they agreed to raise their grandchildren, Isabella Paige and Madilynn Grace. June had waited many years to become a grandmother, and she loved her girls with all her heart. Raising two sets of children was a great accomplishment and speaks volumes about the kind of people Wallace and June Green were.
June went to be with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, May 25, 2023. After a life dedicated to family, June was surrounded by children and grandchildren. She is now reunited with her beloved “Shucks” and leaves a legacy that will continue far into the future.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Providence United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m.
