Terry Lee Bowles

Former Muncie resident Terry Lee Bowles passed away on Friday June 13, 2025 in Yorktown, Virginia surrounded by his loving wife and his three sisters.
Terry was born September 26, 1952 in Muncie, Indiana to Jack & Virginia Bowles who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Muncie Southside in 1970 and enlisted in the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. It was in Williamsburg, VA that he met and married his wife, Evelyn Johns Salisbury. They married on September 3, 1977 and shared 47 wonderful years together. That union created two children, Laura Katherine Bowles (1984) and Isaac Lee Bowles (1986-2011). After his discharge from the Navy he went to work at Dynamic Engineering in Newport News, VA assisting in fabrication of NASA test planes. He finished his career at Eagle Aviation crafting helicopter blades for military helicopters. That job allowed him to travel to Australia to assist in assembly of a specialty helicopter. Terry was mostly a family man that loved spending time with his children and his extended family. He was the best dad and cherished both Laura and Isaac, so much that he drove his family every year back home to Muncie at Christmas just so his kids could see Indiana snow. Terry left behind a huge family that will miss him tremendously. The cancer left his body weak and tired, but his heart was full of love. He loved the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Washington Redskins, and the Washington Nationals, fishing with his son, sharing stories with his favorite son-in-law, Garen Lowrey and enjoyed being the “cook” of the kitchen. He worked hard yet he had a quiet spirit. There are no words left to describe the absence that will be felt in our hearts. Terry is survived by, his wife, Evelyn Salisbury Bowles, daughter Laura Bowles (Garen Lowrey) of Dallas, Texas. Three sisters in Muncie, Indiana, Linda (Kenny) Fannin, Connie (Mel) Lamb and Brenda (David) Foreman. Brothers-in-law, David Salisbury, and William Salisbury, Sister-in-law, Jane Trommatter. Numerous cousins in Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews that he adored. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Virginia Bowles and his son Isaac Lee Bowles and his Corgi dog Scrappy. Evelyn’s parents Robert (Sarah) Salisbury and Dorothy (Jack) Ringlesbach. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Amory Funeral Home in Grafton, VA has assisted the family.
