Ruth Merle Massarotti

Ruth Merle Massarotti, 80-years-old, passed away April 14th, 2018 after a short illness.
Ruth was born in Punxsutawney, PA, December 1937. She lived most of her young adult life in Dubois, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Dubois High School. She married an airman and moved to Virginia, and they raised three children.
Ruth had a successful career as an executive secretary for many years. She became a small business owner and a court stenographer. Later in life, she worked as a private investigator and CASA representative, defending the rights of children. She worked as a handi-ride driver for the disabled. She was a member of the Peninsula Italian American Lodge 2145. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Body Recall in Yorktown, Virginia. She painted and she was an avid gardener. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and she was a member of the Virginia Choral Society.
She is preceded in death by Eva Dawn Swanson of Dubois, PA. She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband, Ray Massarotti, of 37 years; her three children, Tracey Swan of Yorktown, VA, Linda Gardener (Trevor Gardener) of Naples, FL, Dirk Swanson (Chrystal Swanson) of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Faith Swan of Yorktown, VA, Priscilla Pence of Naples, FL, Parker Pence of Seaford, VA, Eva, Abigail, and Grey Swanson of Richmond, VA; and one great-grandchild, Ryland Pence of Naples, FL. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
Her memorial services will be held May 6th, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at Amory’s Funeral Home in Grafton, VA.
