Paul Ray Yeager

Paul Ray Yeager, 86, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 after a long battle with Lewy-Body Dementia. Paul was a native of Sherman, Texas and was a graduate of Sherman High School, Austin College with a degree in Physics and he earned his MBA from George Washington University. He was a Peninsula resident since August of 1952. Most recently he was a resident at Warwick Forest Retirement Community.
Paul retired from the General Research Instructional Branch of NASA after 35 years. He received an American Chemical Society Award for Achievements in Measurement and Science, was awarded 3 patents, and had 27 published research papers. He was a Patron member of the NRA, an International shooting union class A judge and was Chief of USISC classification for 12 years. He also was the owner of Dare Gun Room for many years.
He was a member of Providence UMC, where he served as treasurer. He was President of Dare PTA for 2 years, president of Grafton Youth Football for 1 year, served as assistant coach for Pee Wee Football for 3 years and was a coach of Lafayette Jr. Rifle team for 7 years.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Cleveland Yeager. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Yeager Allsbrook and her husband Mike of Southern Shores, NC and his son David Yeager and his wife Tanya of Gloucester, VA. He is survived by his granddaughters, Katlin Allsbrook and her boyfriend Keith Peck of Dayton, OH and Jenilee Allsbrook Hart and her husband Cody of Manteo, NC and his grandson, Shane Yeager of Gloucester, VA. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Audrey Hart of Manteo, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 18, in the cemetery of Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. C. Douglas Akers officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers Memorials may made to Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 113 Old Dare Road, Yorktown, VA. 23692. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
