Mildred Parker, 81, a longtime resident of Virginia Beach who more recently lived in Yorktown, passed away on November 5, 2018, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Mildred was born in Columbia, NC, and learned her strong work ethic by living and working on a farm. She moved to Norfolk in the late 1950s where she worked at a bank and met the love of her life and future husband on a blind date.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Horace B. Parker Jr.
She is survived by one son, H.B. Parker III (Jill) of Virginia Beach, VA; and four daughters, Debra Shockey (Don) of Mechanicsville, VA, Wanda Fralick (Dion) of Yorktown, VA, Sandra Parker Sancilio (John) and Agnes Burkhart (Greg) of Virginia Beach, VA. She was also blessed to have eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newport News. A graveside service will follow at 2pm at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. Funeral arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home, Yorktown, VA.

Mildred had five children and each considered themselves to be her favorite, and they were.
