Leon-Girard R ‘Lee’ Ketchum
Leon-Girard R. (Lee) Ketchum, Colonel (Retired) USAF died on Monday, June 18, 2018 in Yorktown, Virginia at the age of 73. Lee retired from the Logistics Plans Directorate of Air combat Command, Langley AFB, VA in 1993 after serving over 26 and one-half years in a variety of assignments including as a KC-135 navigator during the Vietnam war, a navigator instructor at the Air Force undergraduate navigation school at Mather AFB California; and then as a logistics plans officer at multiple bases and various levels of command. His awards include the Legion of Merit; the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf clusters and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. After his retirement from the Air Force, Lee went on to work for the Logistics department of Newport News Shipbuilding where he retired in 2008.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Nancy (Betourne); two great sons Leo and Edward of Yorktown, VA; a brother Rick and partner Jan Wunsch of Naperville, IL; twin sister Lynne and husband Frank Edwinson of Middleton, WI; and younger sister Debbie and husband Greg Jircik of Eagle River, WI.
After direct cremation, he will be interred in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton, VA on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
