Joseph Hampton Brooks

Joseph Hampton Brooks, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Leaving Granville, North Carolina when he was 18 pursuing Barber School in Richmond, VA. He started a long life path for “Joe The Barber”. Whether cutting Sen. George Allen’s or Walt Disney’s hair he has a busy life greeting and entertaining doctors, lawyers, business men and his close buddies while cutting their hair in amazing record time at Green’s for 35 years. They swapped jokes, fishing, bird hunting tales, and solved the worlds’ problems. When his friends hair grew to thin he trimmed them lightly and they still talk for hours in the garage.
Joe would have been 77 in July 2017. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife Mable Lee, and beloved sons William and Vincent Brooks. He is survived by his wife Peggy, his beloved grandson, J.D. beloved granddaughters Sara and Savannah and his only precious great granddaughter Audri Cooke as well as relatives in Poquoson and North Carolina.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Amory Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
