James Edward ‘ED’ Parker


James Edward Parker (Ed), 95, of Yorktown, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. He was born in 1923 to George and Esther Parker. Ed grew up in Hampton, Virginia, but spent most of his adult life residing in Williamsburg, Virginia.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, he returned to the Peninsula and worked in accounting before making his career in real estate. He was well known in the Williamsburg area for his work in commercial real estate. He was also known as the “Mayor of Village Green” and one of the best dressed men in town.
Ed is survived by his wife of 75 years, Elsie M. Parker of Yorktown; two sons, James (Jimmy) Parker of San Antonio, TX and Richard Parker (Lois) of Yorktown; four granddaughters, Kelly Linares (Christian), Jennifer Reyes (Ray), Jhoana Jackson (Johnnie) and Kristina Olsen-Hayes (Brett); and two great-granddaughters (Liv Linares and Sydney Olsen). Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Garland Ray Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, VA. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family burial will be held later.
Ed was a member of Williamsburg Baptist Church for 60 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
