Herman Randolph Harsey, Sr.

Herman R. Harsey, Sr. went home to live with Jesus on December 30, 2017. He was born on March 5, 1939 in Rocky Mount, NC to Mills and Fannie Harsey. He has been a resident of the Peninsula since July 1957. His esteemed career totaled more than 50 years of shipbuilding and he retired as an Engineer Supervisor from the Newport News Shipyard in May 2007. He attended All Nations Church in Newport News where he served as a Deacon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Wanda L. Harsey and his children, Susan Kight and her fiancé Patrick Bryant of Chesapeake, Herman Randolph (Randy) Harsey and his wife Tracey of Seaford; step-children, Anna Anderson & husband Phil Anderson of Columbus, OH, Jon Williams and fiancé Michelle Alvarado of Richmond, VA, Kristin Hodous & husband Dr. Brian Hodous of Boston, MA; a sister Bonnie White and her husband Tom of Rocky Mount; grandchildren Christopher Joyce, Ashley Joyce, Emily Harsey, Madison Harsey, Herman Harsey III (Tripp), Brody Anderson, Owen Anderson and Anna Hodous, and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in All Nations Church, 853 Cloverleaf Lane, Newport News, interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in Amory Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maoz Israel, P.O. Box 535788, Grand Prairie, TX 75053-5788. Arrangements are made by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA.
