Helen Olesky Watson

Helen Oleksy Watson was called home March 30, 2018 to join her beloved husband and son Bill and Billy, whom she longed to see again. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and daughter who selflessly lived to care for the ones she loved. After a childhood in the coal mines of Yukon, PA, Helen fell in love with and secretly married the love of her life, William (Bill) Watson in 1941. Together they shared 76 years of love, laughter, joy and travels. When times were good, Helen was a loving and caring wife and times were hard, Helen remained steadfast with her love and care.
Helen and Bill raised two wonderful children, Elaine and Billy. Helen was a kind and patient mother who put her children’s needs first. Bill and Helen provided an idyllic childhood for their children providing them with all of love and resources they needed. The family suffered a tremendous loss when Billy died of Leukemia in 1972.
Helen and Bill showered their grandsons, Teddy and Kevin, with love and affection—in a way, filling the void of losing their son. During their weekend at camp, Helen baked for her grandsons and taught them to play Skat and bingo. Helen worked in the Hempfield cafeterias to keep an eye on her grandsons.
Helen was a kind and generous woman who cherished her family and made them feel loved. Helen is survived by her daughter Elaine (Ted) Montini, grandsons Teddy (Julie) and Kevin (Dena) as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
