Frank Stevens Kirkham

Frank Stevens Kirkham, 80, passed away at home on Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was born in New Albany, Indiana and grew up in Corydon, Indiana. Steve retired from NASA in 1995 after service of 34 years. His hobbies included music, especially early jazz, photography, family research and history. An avid reader, he particularly enjoyed the works of William Faulkner and historic figures such as Winston Churchill.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jean Harvey Kirkham, his children Peter Andrew Kirkham and wife Shepard, Jeannie Catherine Church and husband Zack, and his grandchildren Joshua Eli Kirkham, Scout Ava Kirkham, Elsa Grace Kirkham, Corinne Alexia Church, and Phoebe Claire Church. Steve was predeceased by his parents Helen C. and M.S. (Tib) Kirkham, and by his sister Mary Kirkham La Berge. He also is survived by his brother Thomas G. Kirkham, his sister Jenny Kirkham, his nephew Dave LaBerge and wife Sue, his nephew Jim Laberge and wife Shelley, his niece Christina Weidt, his nephews Gary and Billy Kirkham, and his great nieces Erin, Leah, Alex, and Carley La Berge.
The family is planning a Celebrate Steve Luncheon on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown, VA. Burial will be in the churchyard columbarium at 11:30 A.M. followed by lunch in the parish house. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
