Donna Harris, 72, entered to her eternal rest on April 28, 2017, with her beloved husband of 55 years by her side. Donna enjoyed helping others throughout her life such as volunteering for ASA home advocate for Meals on Wheels, York County Library volunteer and the Bargain Box. She was an intricate and dedicated part in numerous family businesses to include Scoops Ice Cream in Heritage Square, owning/operating VA Motor Speedway, Grafton Supply Appliance Parts and was always there to help and support her son’s many ventures, from HRE Construction to Ivy Farms Billiards and most currently Warwick Trading Company, as well as her son’s numerous hobbies involving racecars, drag cars or anything else they were a part of. She had a general love of life and was known to most people as Momma H.
Left to cherish all their memories is her loving husband Leonard ‘Butter’ Harris; her son Lenny Harris and his fiancé Chrissy Neff; a granddaughter Brandy Neff of Yorktown; her extensive family Larry and Claudia Hilzer and family of TX; Marilyn and Bob McFadden of CO; Johnny, Danny and Connie Cunningham of TX; Billy and Barbara Savage of Smithfield; Donnie and Brenda Harris and family of Hampton; Bobby and Georgia Harris-Lamborghini of Gloucester; Peggy Harris of Newport News; Diane and Jerry McCormick of Carrolton and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Glen and Linda Duval, Arlene and Jackie Cortez and Dorothy White. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Larry Lee Harris; mother and father Josephine and Herbert Hilzer; sister Joanne Cunningham and beloved mother and father- in- law Artice and Lono ‘Shorty’ Harris.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 3, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
