Christine Dawson Latham

Christine Dawson Latham, of Dare, passed away on October 31, 2017, at the age of 70. She was born on March 8, 1947, to the late John and Myrtle Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis. She is survived by her sister, Patricia. She also leaves behind three sons: Walt; Matthew and his wife, Jennifer; and Jonathan. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Mackenzie, two aunts (Mary and Helen Clements), and numerous cousins.
Christine was a graduate of Madison College, now James Madison University, having received her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree there. She was a teacher at Bethel Christian School as well as other schools throughout her career. She leaves behind many students with fond memories of a teacher who encouraged them to love reading and learning and to, most importantly, be kind.

The passing of this irreplaceable woman leaves her family in deep sadness. We feel as if we have lost her too soon, but we also trust the Lord’s timing. During her brief illness we had asked that His will be done. He has taken her home, and we look forward to that day when we will be reunited with her.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM at Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday, November 5, 2017. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
Donations may be made to the Peninsula Rescue Mission P.O. Box 377, Newport News, Virginia 23607.
