Ann Stanfield Burnette

Ann Stanfield Burnette, 73, died peacefully at the Williamsburg Hospice House with family and friends by her side on October 1, 2018.

Ann was born in Norfolk, and a 1963 graduate of Norview High School, where she met her husband of 49 years, Henry C. Burnette, Jr.
After living abroad as a military wife, Ann moved to the peninsula in 1978. She retired from Allstate Insurance in 2011. She was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for 39 years, where she served in various ministries. Singing was Ann’s passion, both in church choir and the Sweet Adelines International chorus. She was also a member of the Jamestowne Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ann was known for her sweet personality, her friendly nature, and her devotion to her family. She is survived by her three children, Michael Burnette (Robyn) of Manassas, VA, Lori Burnette of West Orange, NJ, and Jennifer Ogger (Andreas) of Birmingham, AL. She treasured her two grandchildren, Sophie and Finn Ogger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edith Stanfield, her husband, Henry C. Burnette, Jr., and an infant son, Matthew Clay Burnette.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown on Saturday, October 6 at 11 a.m. with reception immediately following. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Williamsburg Hospice House, or the charity of your choice.
