Carlton L. Henley
Carlton L. Henley, 70, of Seaford, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by Elsie, his wife of 47 years; his daughter Martha and her husband Greg Simonnet of West Point, NY; son William and his wife Amy Henley of Poquoson, VA; and son Christopher Henley of Seaford, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Valerie and her husband Charlie O’Baugh of Stauton, VA. Carl was blessed with six grandchildren: Tristan and Katie Simonnet and Dylan, Anna, Adalynn, and Drew Henley. He also had a large and wonderful extended family beyond the family members already mentioned.
Carl was a man of the Lord, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, teacher, and a hard worker. He was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church of Seaford, VA where he held several leadership positions in addition to teaching Sunday school for the Friendship Class for several years. Carl enjoyed a long dedicated career with Verizon, spanning over 43 years. After retirement from Verizon, he worked for TEC LLC for an additional 4 years. He also worked part-time for O’Reilly Auto Parts. Carl served his family, friends and community as a lawn mowing enthusiast sharing his passion for a freshly cut lawn. He never met a stranger and was a servant of the Lord dedicated to sharing the Good News with others. His warmth, love and friendly smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church.
