Aldredge Crockett Smoot


Aldredge Smoot, 98, went home to be with her Lord on September 26, 2018. A Seaford native, she was known for her unwavering faith in the Lord, her zest for life, and unlimited love for her family.
She was a member of World Outreach Worship Center and a faithful member of Aglow International for many years. She worked for York County as a Cafeteria Manager at Yorktown Elementary School for almost two decades. Her hobbies were baking and needlework. She provided many baked goods for church activities and shut-ins and crocheted countless blankets for nursing homes in the local area.
Aldredge was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smoot Sr., her son Laverne Smoot and her beloved sister, Geraldine Ward. She is survived by her son, H.L. Smoot Jr, wife, Vivian and daughter- in-law, Jerry Smoot; six grandchildren Cynthia Smoot Weller, Valerie Ruark, Brian Smoot, Kelly Gdovic, Tamara Smoot and Renae Gary; twelve great-children and one great-great-grandchild, Preston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at World Outreach Worship Center, 1233 Shields Rd. Newport News, VA 23608 with visitation at 10am, Funeral 11am, followed by a private interment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made to York County Fire & Rescue by checks payable to Treasurer of York County mailed to Dept of Fire & Life Safety PO Box 532, Yorktown, VA 23690.
The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to her nurses and caregivers for their exceptional care and support.
