Herbert (Herbie) Hudgins

Herbert (Herbie) Hudgins passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. He was 89 and was predeceased by Wife, Jo Marie, in August 2006.
He is survived by his four children, Anne Bright (David), Michael Hudgins (Charlene), Cameron Hudgins, and Candace Hudgins; five grandchildren, Adam Liles, Michael Hudgins, Inessa Hudgins, Kayle Connely, Jimma Hudgins and his great grandson Quentin Blazey. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Tinker, Linda Barkley, Judy Roundy, and Brenda Welch and his brothers Ennie and Jay Hudgins and many nieces and nephews and his cats Smoky and Calli.
Herbie served in the Merchant Marines, he worked for Asplund Tree Expert Company for many years and started a new career in his Fifties as a Brick Mason. Herbie was a member of the American Legion Post #25 for 15 years and was a supporter of the Legion Riders. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1119 for 44 years. His favorite sports to watch on television were the Redskins, Washington Nationals, and NASCAR, his favorite drivers were Martin Truex and Danica Patrick. He loved dancing, chewing tobacco, and going to the American Legion.
The family would like to thank the women and the other members of American Legion Post 25 for all of their kindness to our father over the years. He liked to golf, hunt, work at the farm and spend time in his garden. He will truly be missed. We love you Dad
A memorial service will be held at1:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Amory Funeral Home Chapel, Grafton, Va. Following the service there will be a celebration of life for Herbie at the American Legion Post 25, 7609 Marshall Ave, Newport News at 6:00 pm on Sept 8, 2018.
